Roscoe Village served as an important canal port during the Ohio and Lake Erie Canal’s boom years of the 1840’s and ‘50’s. The canal was built to join Lake Erie to the Ohio River, thus making commerce of the day more easily obtained. The chug of locomotives and the flood of 1913 ended the canal’s commercial importance, and the town fell into disrepair.
A restoration project, begun in the 1900’s, now boasts five canal era exhibit buildings, alarge museum, as well as horse-drawn restored canal boat rides, quaint shops in Greek Revival buildings, and lovely gardens. Interpreters, in 1830’s dress, demonstrate weaving, pottery making, and blacksmithing. The Johnson-Humrick House Museum has an outstanding collection of Indian, Oriental, and Indian decorative arts.
PRICE PER PERSON IS $109.00. This includes registration, Saturday lunch at the Old Warehouse Restaurant, Final banquet Saturday, Entrances to all historic buildings and museum, our chartered (for our group) trip on the Monticello III, horse-drawn canal boat on the original canal, and incidentals.

1) Join us for coffee and donuts at Snyders’-1312 Meadowood Ln. Hudson at 9:30am to start our tour.
