Where else could one combine Full Classic® driving on back country roads with tours of five private collector car collections, an antique car museum and restoration shop, dining at two private country clubs, with stops at several historic sites? What about a CCCA Full Classic® Grand Concours followed by an evening banquet? Where can this happen in the span of just four days? Answer: the Scenic Ohio Mini-CARavan and Grand Concours slated for July 10–14, 2024.

There will be two days of CARavanning through the rolling hills of scenic Columbiana County, Ohio and neighboring Stark County. You will visit five, private, vintage automobile collections not open to the public, and tour the Canton Classic Car Museum. We will also visit Leetonia, Ohio with a stop at the Coke Oven Arboretum and the fabulous Hillcrest Mansion.

Our meals will be “top shelf” at each venue (jackets for dinners). Our Grand Concours will be on the course of the Salem Golf Club. Rather than traditional points judging, we will present awards based on cars that tell a story.  Chief among them will be the iconic Duesenberg, which will be the featured marque of the Grand Concours. By not requiring points judging, which takes a lot of additional  volunteer time, our participants will have more time to enjoy the day. The Clubhouse will provide lunch during the day and host our evening banquet.

We invite you to join us for all the outings, the Grand Concours day, or any combination of activities you are interested in. More details are below and pricing can be found on the registration form.

July 10 to 14, 2024

Wednesday

Wednesday evening, this four-day Classic Car extravaganza begins with a cocktail reception at the vintage car carriage house of David Johnson, with dinner to follow at his home.

Thursday

We will head west to Hartville, Ohio  along back country roads to the magnificent car barn museum of Dan & Debbie Hanlon.

Lunch will follow at the nearby Congress Lake Country Club.

From there, we will drive to the Canton Classic Car Museum and the adjacent restoration shop. Then we will cruise back to Salem for a little down time.

Dinner that evening will be catered at the home of David and Kathy Gano where we will visit their magnificent vintage car and gun museum.

Friday

We will start out with coffee and doughnuts at the wonderful, vintage car museum of Dichel & Sheryl Owsley in Salem.

We will then drive to the historic little town of Leetonia where we will stop at the Coke Oven Arboretum – supposedly the largest such site in America. From there, we will travel a few blocks to the fabulous Hillcrest Mansion, recently re-built after suffering a horrendous fire. This is the fifth-generation home of the McKeefrey-Usis family, once owners of the coke ovens and iron business for which the town was known.

Afterwards, we will traverse back to Salem for lunch at a 1930s car dealership that has recently been restored and converted to a car museum by Dave Johnson.

Friday afternoon we will have some down time before heading to Hanoverton’s historic Spread Eagle Tavern for cocktails and dinner.

Saturday

Starting at 9:00 on Saturday morning, we will line up on Highland Avenue for a Classic Car Parade, with a police escort, to the Salem Golf Club for the first CCCA Grand Concours.

SHARE THE PASSION

The passion for distinctive “Classic Era” cars drove the founding of the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA). Along with the thrill of driving and owning the greatest coach-built automobiles ever built – learning and keeping the history of the Full Classic® alive fuel that passion. It is with this inspiration that the Classic Car Club of America Education Foundation was conceived.

Our success will preserve the legacy of the Full Classic® automobile and the cultural wealth of the “Classic Era” for generations to come.

MISSION

We endeavor to promote educational efforts pertaining to the study, research and dissemination of information related to Full Classic® automobiles for the public at large and to otherwise preserve and advance the legacy of these extraordinary automobiles through publications and programming for the enduring benefit of future generations.
