Join us for the 2024 Grand Classic

What is a Grand Classic?

From the National CCCA: Our Grand Classics are exciting and fun events to participate in for the collector and the whole family. You do not have to own a Classic Car to participate in Grand Classic activities. The Grand Classics are the premier National shows for Classic Cars, and the CCCA judging standards are used by all of the major concours shows. A CCCA National first is recognized throughout the hobby as the standard of excellence. This is a good opportunity as well to see how your car “stacks up” and what, if anything, you need to do to preserve it historically. You must of course be a member of CCCA to participate, and only CCCA approved Classics are allowed on the show field. You don’t need a Show Car or Trailer Queen to participate, we have a Touring Class for cars that are more drivers than show cars. This is a great excuse to join the CCCA. We have Grand Classics nation-wide every year, so this is great time for your car to to climb all the way up to Premier.

September 26 – 28, 2024

Thursday September 26

We will begin our time together on Thursday evening, with a garden party at our host hotel. Cocktails will kick off at 6:00 with our delicious buffet starting around 6:30. Meet up with old friends and make new ones.

Registration Packets will be available from 3:00pm when check-in at the hotel begins and will remain available until dinner wraps up.

Friday September 27

Breakfast is included each morning as a guest of the hotel so get your caffeine fix and be ready for a special day together.

We will plan to roll out together starting at 9:30. Our CARavan of Full Classics will make our way to the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Located at Wright-Patterson Air Force base, this is the world’s largest aviation museum.  We will park together.

From their web site:

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force galleries present military aviation history, boasting more than 350 aerospace vehicles and missiles on display – many rare and one-of-a-kind – along with thousands of historical items and powerful sensory exibits that bring history to life and connect the Wright Brothers’ legacy with today’s stealth and precision technology.

We will enjoy a private, catered luncheon in the Cold War Gallery of the museum. A portion of our luncheon fees will go towards supporting the museum.

Following our luncheon, guests will have the option to CARavan to an exclusive visit to the nearby British Transportation Museum, or make your own way to any of a long list of historic sites in the area.

Dinner will be on our own Friday evening with a multitude of nearby choices, or stay and enjoy the restaurant in our host hotel. More details to come from your hosts!

Saturday September 28

Our Saturday Grand Classic will be held in the incredible Carillon Historical Park. This park parallels the Ford Greenfield Village of Dearborn, MI and is simply delightful. This is a 65-acre, open-air museum with exhibits including the oldest American-built locomotive, a 1930s print shop, an historic village with period demonstrations like candle-dipping, musket-firing, blacksmithing, and so much more.

To make things easy for our vehicle owners, we will have delicious boxed lunches available for purchase (must be pre-ordered) to be delivered to your vehicle on the show field. What could be more convenient?

At the end of our show, there will be a short CARavan with the help of Dayton Tourism to some photo spots. More details to come.

Awards Banquet

Our time together will conclude on Saturday Evening. The Awards Banquet will be held at America’s Packard Museum. This is the largest public collection of Packard Motor Car Company automobiles and memorabilia in the U.S. A portion of our fees for dinner will be in support of the museum.

Cocktail hour with an open bar will begin at 6:00 with private access to the entire museum throughout the evening.

A spectacular, catered dinner buffet will 7:00 with awards to follow.

From their web site:

The largest artifact at America’s Packard Museum is the building itself. The Citizen’s Motorcar Company was founded in Cincinnati in 1906. In 1917, it opened a location at 420 South Ludlow Street in Dayton, in a building designed by Dayton architect Albert Pretzinger in the style of Albert Kahn. The building cost $80,000 and was built to be completely fireproof. This was not a dealership. Rather, as a distributorship, Packard Motor Car Company sold its vehicles directly to the public in Dayton.
